Canisteo-Greenwood climbs in state rankings, joining 19 others in Section V

Canisteo-Greenwood has been a fixture in the state rankings put together by the New York State Sportswriters Association this season, and for good reason.

The Chargers entered this week ranked No. 3 in the Class B state rankings, up a spot from the previous weekly ranking.

Canisteo-Greenwood tipped off Monday with a 13-3 overall record, with its only losses to Class AAA Corning-Painted Post and Ithaca, plus Class C Fillmore.

Coincidentally, the Chargers have a chance to avenge that narrow 76-73 loss to the Eagles with a trip to Fillmore Monday night. A win would help Canisteo-Greenwood lock up a top-three seed in its Section V bracket ahead of the Steuben County tournament.

Below is the list of the 20 teams in Section V in the latest state rankings, including three other newcomers:

Section V Class B boys basketball

Section V Class C boys basketball

Section V Class D boys basketball

Section V Class AAA boys basketball teams

Section V Class AA boys basketball teams

Section V Class A boys basketball
