The towns of Canandaigua and Farmington are looking for help from the community for new and established committees and town boards.
Canandaigua trails

The new Trail Planning and Development Working Group will guide the continued growth and enhancement of the town’s recreational trail system. The new group will serve in an advisory capacity, working closely with the town’s Parks and Recreation Committee and staff to support long-range planning and informed decision-making related to the town’s trail infrastructure.
Responsibilities of the working group will include reviewing and advising on existing and proposed hiking trails and ADA-accessible pathways; assisting with trail system planning, connectivity and long-range visioning; supporting the creation, review and updating of trail maps and related public information; providing input on maintenance priorities, accessibility improvements and best practices; reviewing potential land acquisitions or easements that may impact the town’s trail network; and exploring funding and grant opportunities related to trail development and enhancement.
Residents with interest or experience in trails, outdoor recreation, planning, conservation, engineering, or community development are asked to consider serving.
Canandaigua senior citizen programming
The town of Canandaigua is seeking community members to serve on the newly established Senior Recreation and Engagement Working Group, operating under the town’s parks and recreation committee.
As the town’s senior population continues to grow, town leadership wants to expand meaningful recreation, wellness and social opportunities for older adults. The working group will serve in an advisory capacity, providing input and recommendations to help guide the development and enhancement of senior programming and services.
This includes reviewing existing senior recreation programs and identifying opportunities for growth or improvement; recommending new programming that supports physical activity, lifelong learning, social connection and wellness; evaluating accessibility, transportation and scheduling considerations; exploring partnerships with local organizations, service providers and community groups; providing input regarding facilities use and space needs; and supporting outreach efforts to ensure programs align with community interests and needs.
