Buffalo Bills first-round rookie cornerback Maxwell Hairston was the subject of a civil lawsuit in early July on behalf of a woman accusing him of sexual assault in 2021.
The lawsuit was filed in Lexington, Kentucky. Hairston was drafted by Buffalo out of the University of Kentucky.
Hairston addressed it this week during Bills training camp.
“Yeah, this is something I’ve been dealing with since I was 17,” Hairston said. “It’s been four years now, and I went through this whole process with the police. They went through a thorough investigation, and I was exonerated from that.”
General manager Brandon Beane has previously addressed the situation and has continued to support Hairston throughout the process. He did so again from training camp.
“No, no, no. You know, that’s, it’s frustrating, I think I reiterated that after the draft, is frustrating because in the legal world you can’t sit there and say things back and forth. You got to let it go,” Beane said. “But this happened to this young man over four years ago. He gave up his phone to prove some of … he took a polygraph test. This kid didn’t run from anything.”
