While the United States’ women’s hockey team is making noise on the ice, siblings of one Team USA player are doing the same off it.
Casey, Ryan and Tommy Winn, older brothers of U.S. defender and Rochester native Haley Winn, have not been camera-shy since the start of the 2026 Olympics. The trio’s sudden fame largely stems from several patriotic outfits worn, and caught on NBC’s game broadcasts, since the start of the women’s tournament last week.
On Wednesday, following Team USA’s dominant win over Canada, the three brothers appeared on NBC’s Today Show with sister Haley and parents Janet and Mike. Each of the brothers was sporting the same outfit — bucket hats, fleeces and slacks donning the United States flag.
Among the other outfits since the family’s arrival in Italy: newsboy caps with cigars and newspapers as props, and bald eagle masks.
The family also met Snoop Dogg, a noted sports fan and unofficial ambassador for the U.S., after its television appearance.
“This was a great opportunity to get together and support our little sister,” Ryan Winn told the Today Show.
Haley Winn has been one of Team USA’s top defenders so far during Olympic play. The 22-year-old has one goal, one assist and has a plus-8 plus-minus rating in four games, while averaging 18:34 of ice time.
The U.S. has outscored its four opponents 20 to one, and has the top seed in Group A as the tournament enters the medal round. Next up is host Italy on Friday, Feb. 13 in the quarterfinals.
“Obviously it’s amazing. Getting to represent your country is an honor in itself,” Haley Winn said. “I think our team is really excited to get into the medal rounds.”
Winn siblings enter the spotlight
As a No. 2 overall draft pick in the Professional Women’s Hockey League and now a first-time Olympian, few players can match the recent accolades of Haley Winn. But her three older brothers, who split their childhood between Williamson and Webster, were impressive athletes in their own right.
Casey, 29, and Ryan, 27, were members of the Webster Schroeder varsity hockey team that won the New York state Division II title in 2014. That season, Ryan was a second-team all-county selection, while Casey was named top defenseman in the Warriors’ section final win against Victor. Tommy also played multiple seasons for Schroeder.
After high school, all three brothers played collegiately: Casey at SUNY Brockport, Ryan at Bowdoin College (Maine) and Tommy at SUNY Geneseo.
The Olympics are not Ryan Winn’s first time in the spotlight. He appeared on the NBC series “On Brand with Jimmy Fallon,” a show that challenges contestants to form a marketing campaign.
