Bills lose offensive tackle to Vikings after declining to match offer

The Buffalo Bills aren’t holding onto Ryan Van Demark.

Buffalo will not match the Minnesota Vikings’ one-year, $4.2 million fully guaranteed offer sheet for the offensive tackle, according to NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero.

Van Demark, a restricted free agent, had been tendered by the Bills earlier this offseason at $3.52 million with a right-of-first-refusal designation, giving Buffalo the ability to match any outside offer. The team declined, allowing him to sign with Minnesota. Van Demark’s salary was $1.03 million in 2025.

Van Demark originally entered the NFL as an undrafted free agent and the Bills will receive no draft compensation.

Van Demark, who turns 28 on March 22, spent four seasons in Buffalo after joining the team’s practice squad in 2022. He developed into the Bills’ primary swing tackle, appearing in 43 games with six starts over the past three seasons.

His role steadily expanded, culminating in a career-high 312 offensive snaps in 2025 while playing all 17 games. He made starts at both tackle spots and provided depth behind Dion Dawkins and Spencer Brown.

Buffalo has younger options who can compete for the swing tackle role, including Alec Anderson, Tylan Grable and Chase Lundt, and could also address offensive line depth in the draft.
