The Bills are continuing to evaluate talent to strengthen their receiving corps ahead of the 2026 NFL draft.
Among the wide receivers Buffalo has met with during the pre-draft process is Oregon speedster Malik Benson, who had a dinner and a workout with the team led by Bills wide receivers coach Drew Terrell, per Essentially Sports.
Benson spent time with three different programs before landing with the Ducks for his final collegiate campaign. He started and recorded 43 receptions for 719 yards and six touchdowns, averaging a whopping 16.7 yards per catch in Oregon’s offense in 2025.
He contributed as both a receiver and a punt returner, averaging 17.9 yards with a return touchdown on nine punts, demonstrating some multi-phase versatility in how he can contribute.
His combination of speed, explosiveness, and special teams contributions has improved his stock throughout the pre-draft process as a viable prospect for NFL teams looking to add depth at the position.
Benson has the ability to stretch the field as a deep threat, and has some fluidity in and out of breaks that could have some appeal to teams at the pro level. At the NFL combine, he ran a 4.37-second 40-yard dash with a 1.55-second 10-yard split and a 32.5-inch vertical jump. He made a good impression, telling teams he’s eager to serve as a gunner on coverage units in addition to returning punts as a special teams contributor.
Bills GM Brandon Beane has been evaluating and bringing in talent for Josh Allen and Buffalo’s passing game. There are some open spots on the depth chart at the receiving position, and adding a return specialist could help to take that extra workload off Khalil Shakir’ to perform exclusively as a pass catcher.’s plate as well.
Benson projects as a Day 3 selection and would be an option for Buffalo, which has met with a number of wide receiver prospects ahead of next month’s draft.
This, after trading their second-round selection for D.J. Moore.
The team is taking a thorough approach to evaluating talent and finding the players they need to fill out those depth chart spots.
