Iowa (7-0) opens Big Ten play with perhaps the toughest test it can face. The 25th-ranked Hawkeyes travel to defending regular-season champion and No. 8 Michigan State (7-0) for the two teams’ conference openers.
Iowa enters after capturing the Acrisure Classic championship with victories over Ole Miss (74-69) and Grand Canyon (59-46). Senior guard Bennett Stirtz dropped a season-high 29 points in the win over the Rebels, and then sophomore guard Isaia Howard scored a team-high 19 in the win over Grand Canyon.
The Hawkeyes boast the nation’s No. 8 field goal percentage at 53.1% shooting. Meanwhile, Michigan State brings the nation’s 32nd-ranked field goal percentage defense and the country’s No. 11 scoring defense (61.6 points per game).
