Western Iowa man sentenced to 35 years for child exploitation

A Crawford County man has been sentenced to 35 years in prison after admitting to coercing minors to send him explicit materials.

Bryce White, 42, of Dow City, was indicted by federal prosecutors in October, accused of soliciting numerous young girls across the United States and beyond to share nude images and videos via Snapchat. A parent in Michigan discovered White’s communications, resulting in a law enforcement search of White’s electronic devices that found 14 videos and 180 photos of child sexual abuse and “over 20,000 images of child erotica.”

White pleaded guilty in January to one count of sexual exploitation of children and one count receipt of child pornography. At his June 18 sentencing, where he faced a possible maximum of 50 years in prison, he was ordered to serve consecutive terms of 25 and 10 years, to be followed by 10 years of supervised release.

A third charge for possession of child pornography was dismissed as part of White’s plea deal. His attorney did not respond to a message seeking comment.
