Kate Martin stats in Golden State Valkyries win vs Seattle Storm

With the Golden State Valkyries securing a dominant 84-57 win vs. the Seattle Storm on Sunday from Chase Center in San Francisco, Calif., guard Kate Martin continued her impressive play as of late with her third consecutive game with at least 10 points.

As the Valkyries control the pace of play throughout most of the game, Golden State was able to provide quality minutes to many of its bench players, such as Martin.

In her 26 minutes of action, Martin scored 11 points on 4-for-11 shooting from the field, 2-for-6 from 3-point territory, and 1-for-2 from the free-throw line. Martin also collected three rebounds, two assists, and two steals to add to her scoring totals.

Following the win over the Storm, Martin now has scored 43 points on 14-for-37 shooting from the field, 9-for-23 from beyond the arc, and 4-5 from the charity stripe on an average of 23:20 minutes per game over the past three games.

With Valkries’ leading scorer, forward Kayla Thornton, leaving Sunday’s game early in the third quarter following an apparent injury, Martin’s reliable scoring abilities could net her increased minutes off the bench or even as a starter if Thornton is unable to play in Golden State’s next contest.

The next opportunity for Martin to play it will be Saturday, July 5, when the Valkyries travel to face the league-leading Minnesota Lynx from Target Center in Minneapolis, Minn., at 7 p.m. CT.
