Iowa women’s basketball (8-0) travels to Jersey Mike’s Arena in Piscataway, N.J., for its Big Ten opener this Saturday to take on Rutgers (7-2).
The 12th-ranked Hawkeyes may once again be without its sidelined trio. Iowa sophomore guard Chit-Chat Wright suffered an upper-body injury early in the second half of the Hawkeyes’ Nov. 20 date against Baylor. Wright has missed games against Miami, Western Illinois and Fairfield.

The Hawkeyes have been without fellow sophomores Emely Rodriguez and Teagan Mallegni in each of their past two contests as well. Rodriguez has been dealing with a back injury, while Mallegni had her tonsils removed.
On Thursday, Iowa head women’s basketball coach Jan Jensen updated the trio’s statuses.
“Well, I haven’t talked to our trainer yet, and it’s not coach speak, they’re truly day-to-day when they’re going to be released and there’s different testing and protocols. I haven’t got that yet.
“I think we’re still a little bit a ways (away) with Teagan’s recovery, but I’m crossing my fingers a little bit about Chat and Emely, but it really is day-to-day and I don’t have anything yet has come through my desk or our trainer hasn’t stopped up yet,” Jensen said.
Jensen said that the trio has not practiced this week.
Wright was listed as “questionable” in the pregame availability report versus Fairfield, while Rodriguez and Mallegni were listed as “out.” None of the three played against Fairfield.
Iowa tips off at Rutgers at 5 p.m. CT on Saturday in a game that will be broadcast on FS1.
