In addition to the verbal extension of the Cy-Hawk series through 2031, Iowa State football announced July 29 two other scheduling changes for future opponents.
Iowa State’s non-conference game against Bowling Green, which was originally scheduled to be a road game for the Cyclones, will now be played at Jack Trice Stadium on Sept. 18, 2027.
The Cyclones also moved both games of their future home-and-home series with Tulane to the first week of the college football season, due to the recent NCAA changes for the regular season calendar, which will now allow schools to start their seasons a week earlier.
Iowa State and Bowling Green were originally set to play a home-and-home series. The two teams will meet this season on Sept. 19 at Jack Trice Stadium. The change to next year’s meeting with Bowling Green now gives Iowa State seven home games for the 2027 campaign.
Athletic director Jamie Pollard initially declined the possibility of making any scheduling alterations surrounding the 2027 Bowling Green matchup or buying that road game out, when asked by the Register in Sept. 2025.
As for the Tulane series, the Cyclones will now open the 2028 season against the Green Wave on Aug. 26 at Jack Trice Stadium. In turn, the 2029 season will now commence at Tulane’s Yulman Stadium in New Orleans on Aug. 25, 2029.
