IOWA CITY — Class of 2027 running back Keyon Thomas has committed to Iowa football, he announced June 17.
Thomas, who attends Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, is a 3-star prospect and ranked tied for 878th nationally in the 2027 high school class, according to the 247Sports Composite.
Last season, Thomas rushed 168 times for 1,337 yards and 19 touchdowns. He also hauled in 18 receptions for 184 yards and one touchdown.
Thomas received offers from Iowa, Illinois, Michigan State, Cincinnati, UConn and others. His commitment to the Hawkeyes came after a recent visit to Iowa.
He stands around 6-foot and more than 200 pounds.

Iowa continues its success in recruiting the Hoosier state with Thomas’ commitment. Trevor Lauck and Leighton Jones, both offensive linemen on Iowa’s current roster, are from Indiana. So are running back Xavier Williams and quarterback Jimmy Sullivan. Former Hawkeyes Jay Higgins and Deontae Craig were also plucked from Indiana.
Thomas is the lone running back commitment in Iowa’s 2027 class.
Every running back on Iowa’s 2026 roster has multiple seasons of eligibility remaining, including Kamari Moulton, LJ Phillips Jr,. Nathan McNeil and Xavier Williams.
Jay Norvell is entering his first season as Iowa’s running backs coach.
