Iowa football lands 2027 QB commit from The Volunteer State

As Iowa football continues to build its 2027 recruiting class, the Hawkeyes have gained a valuable asset for the future with Thursday’s commitment from quarterback Brayden Santibanez.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pounder from Collierville, Tenn., is ranked as a three-star prospect, as the No. 51 quarterback and as the No. 32 recruit in Tennessee in the 2027 class, according to Rivals.

Santibanez chose Iowa over a number of other competing programs, including Iowa State, Kansas State, Cincinnati, North Carolina, and Big Ten foe Maryland. Santibanez had an unofficial visit to Iowa City on April 7, during which he received his offer from the Hawkeyes.

As a junior at Collierville High School, Santibanez split time under center. The Volunteer State product completed 65.9% of his passes and threw for 1,140 yards and 13 touchdowns. Santibanez also rushed for 321 yards and five scores on the campaign.

For the Hawkeyes, gaining the pledge of this crafty dual-threat signal-caller is a significant development for offensive coordinator Tim Lester and head coach Kirk Ferentz as they look to build the program’s offensive might in a conference littered with high-end talent.
