Iowa basketball forward reportedly mulling transfer portal entry

After splashing one of the most memorable shots in Hawkeye history, Iowa basketball forward Alvaro Folgueiras is reportedly mulling entering the transfer portal.

Per On3’s Pete Nakos, Folgueiras’ Iowa future is “up in the air.” According to Nakos’ sources, they would be surprised if he is back in Iowa City for another season.

This past season at Iowa, Folgueiras averaged 8.4 points, 3.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, while shooting 50% from the field, 33.3% from 3-point range and 76.7% from the free-throw line. A 6-foot-10, 230-pound forward, the Spaniard transferred into Iowa ahead of last season after earning Horizon League Player of the Year at Robert Morris the season prior.

Folgueiras’ 3-pointer with 4.5 seconds remaining downed top-seeded Florida and sent Iowa to its first Sweet 16 since 1999.

The Hawkeyes would obviously love Folgueiras back, but, Folgueiras’ March heroics caught the attention of other programs around the country and that’s driven his asking price up.
