While the inner workings of the Indiana Fever’s WNBA free agency negotiations have remained relatively quiet, the franchise has apparently reached an agreement of a deal to re-sign center-forward Damiris Dantas, according to Roberta Rodrigues.
The 6-foot-4 veteran big is entering her 11th year in the league and will compete in her third season with the Fever, to whom she joined prior to the 2024 campaign.
Dantas averaged 4.6 points and 2.4 rebounds per game on 34.8% field goal shooting and 26.3% 3-point shooting last year. In her career, Dantas averages 7.0 points, 3.8 rebounds and 1.4 assists per game on 41.8% field goal shooting, 33.2% 3-point shooting and 78.3% accuracy at the free-throw line.
While the WNBA is still in its free-agency negotiations period, all commitments between players and teams cannot be made official until the league officially opens its free-agency signing window on April 11.
As a result, specific details on her expected salary cap hit and terms on the deal remain undisclosed until the Brazilian-born star puts pen to paper on Saturday.
Although fans expect more commotion from the Fever’s free agency activity, this move does give the franchise another year with the experienced star to use off the bench.
