Did you know… where was this shop located? Brook’s Ice Cream Shop was located along the alley between 2nd and 3rd streets on Bateman. When Perry still had passenger train service, there were ice cream shops and cafes within a short walking distance of the depot to serve passengers. Brooks also had a drive-up window in the alley between them and the post office. Many other similar shops were located around town. Walking home from the 10th Street High School, in the late 50s and early 60’s, my go-to stop, if I had any money, was the ice cream shop on the corner of 3rd and Otley, which today is home to the Oasis restaurant.
