Bondurant-Farrar girls soccer player Abby Chambers and Norwalk boys track and field sprinter Kaiden Kunze were voted the Des Moines Register’s female and male Athlete of the Week winners from the metro area for the week of April 5-11.
Chambers won female Athlete of the Week with 64% of the vote.
Chambers had a monster game for the Bondurant-Farrar girls soccer team during a 10-0 victory over Carroll on April 6 at Bondurant.
Chambers put six goals into the net for the Bluejays. She got off a whopping 20 shots on goal and added three assists.
Kunze claimed male Athlete of the Week honors with 55% of the vote.
Kunze placed first in the boys long jump with the longest leap among Class 4A boys in Iowa so far in 2026.
Kunze jumped 24 feet, five inches on his third attempt to win the gold medal by 3.25 inches over defending 4A state champion Miciah LeLaCheur of West Des Moines Valley.
