Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. is taking a wait-and-see stance about this weekend’s expected winter storm.
“We did contact our families last night just to let them know that we will be monitoring (weather) conditions closely,” EVSC spokesman Jason Woebkenberg said at mid-day Friday.

“We are also sending home students with their school-issued computer devices today in the event that we need to do some live virtual instruction,” Woebkenberg said.
EVSC will assess conditions day-by-day next week, Woebkenberg said.
“In terms of what we do with potential cancellations, we may use some live instruction, virtual instruction,” he said. “We also may utilize our built-in make up days.
“As we told families in the communication last night, we will keep them informed and announce the status of school and, if there is a cancellation, how that cancellation and make-up will be handled.”
The EVSC school board is scheduled to hold a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. Monday at the school corporation’s administration building located at 951 Walnut Street.
The meeting will be held in one form or another, Woebkenberg said.
“It will depend on what the conditions are following the winter storm,” he said. “(The meeting) will be in-person if we can have it in-person. If there is a state of emergency issued that would prevent people from driving to the board meeting, then we would utilize a virtual option – but that would be if we have a state of emergency.”
