There’s a pile of dirt on West 86th Street, where multiple houses were razed to make way for a new commercial development.
What’s being built there?
Answer: A new dermatology office, which doubles as part of an expansion of the nearby medical district.
Dinneen-Ward-Shelley LLC, a holding company owned by dermatologists Dr. Annette Dinneen and Dr. Emily Shelley, got the OK in 2024 to raze two single-family homes and a closed veterinary practice at 1621, 1625 and 1631 W. 86th Street to make way for new medical buildings, according to city documents.
The 3-acre site is located just west of the 86th Street and Ditch Road intersection, in between the Half Price Books location and the Traditions at North Willow assisted living facility in the St. Vincent Greenbriar neighborhood.
Dinneen and Shelley currently work out of the Indiana Dermatology Associates of Indiana office at 8433 Harcourt Rd. in the Ascension Medical Group St. Vincent hospital complex, a stone’s throw away from the ongoing construction site.
Much of the new development will be a new dermatology practice by Dinneen and Shelley, but some space will be left for additional future medical office, site plans from 2024 say. It’s unclear what that other medical office may be.
The Dermatology Associates of Indiana did not respond to an IndyStar email asking for more information.
