The Colts playoff situation is still far better than anyone would have thought entering the season … but not nearly as good as it was.
Sunday’s 20-16 loss to the Houston Texans drops the Colts’ odds of making the playoffs to 73% according to the New York Times Playoff Simulator. The Colts have dropped out of the top spot in the AFC South due to the common games tiebreaker to Jacksonville and a loss next week to the Jaguars will sink the Colts’ playoff chances to 59%.
The Colts still (just barely) have the best odds to win the division according to the New York Times at 38%, but Jacksonville is now at 37% and Houston 25%. Indianapolis’ chances for a bye are down to 2% but they still have a 5% chance at the Super Bowl.
