Drew Fredenburg of Shenandoah baseball has been voted The Star Press Athlete of the Week for May 26-June 2, brought to you by IU Health.
Fredenberg helped Shenandoah win its first sectional title in 19 years with his performances in the Sectional 44 tournament. He logged two RBIs and scored two runs in a 6-3 first-round win over Winchester on May 29, then logged another RBI and scored twice more in a 9-8 win over Centerville on May 31. In the Raiders’ 6-2 victory over Hagerstown in the sectional championship on June 2, Fredenburg started the game with a leadoff home run and pitched a complete game in the victory.
Fredenburg received 5,856 out of 10,406 votes cast (56.28%).
Students in all varsity sports are eligible to be nominated, but can only be named Athlete of the Week once per season, per sport. Athletes from one school cannot win more than three consecutive weeks.
