There were several standout individual performances across Southwestern Indiana this week. Who gets your vote?
Each week, you can vote for the Courier & Press Athlete of the Week, presented by Orthopaedic Associates. Below you will find the poll for April 27-May 2 and brief information on each performance. You can vote as often as you’d like until 10 a.m. CT Friday morning.
Brady Anderson, Vincennes Lincoln baseball: The senior allowed two hits, no runs and struck out 12 across seven innings in a 1-0, nine-inning victory over Castle.
Alex Cook, Castle golf: The freshman shot a 5-under par 67 at Rock Hollow to earn individual medalist honors in the Hall of Fame Invitational. The Knights won the team championship with a 292.
Hudson King, Forest Park baseball: The junior pitched a two-hit shutout with 10 strikeouts against North Daviess and went 4-for-11 with four RBIs in four games for the Rangers.
Madelyn Knies, Jasper track: The senior broke a school record in the 300-meter hurdles held since 1992 with a winning time of 45.69 seconds in the Forest Park Invitational.
Macy Lankford, Mater Dei softball: The senior was 5-for-10 with two home runs — both in a win at No. 1 Tecumseh — two doubles, three runs and five RBIs in four games for the Wildcats.
Avery Long, Tecumseh softball: The junior was 11-for-15 with seven runs, seven RBIs, a home run and a .750 OBP in five games for the No. 1 Braves.
Grayson Marx, Memorial baseball: The junior was 7-for-15 with four extra-base hits, seven runs and seven RBIs in four victories for the Tigers.
Jordan Paul, Boonville track: The senior won both hurdles events in the Princeton Invitational with winning times of 15.16 (110 hurdles) and 42.64 (300 hurdles).
Madison Versteeg, North Posey softball: The junior was 9-for-14 with 12 RBIs and three runs in four games for the Vikings.
Callie Walls, Central softball: The sophomore was 10-for-17 with three extra-base hits, five runs and three RBIs across four games, including a walk-off hit to beat Forest Park.
Vivienne Young, Wood Memorial track: The sophomore was the individual winner in the 100 (12.92), 200 (26.54) and long jump (17-0) in the Southridge Invitational.
