RICHMOND, IN — A Richmond man has been sentenced to 17 years in prison for drug-dealing and firearms convictions.

Wayne Superior Court 2 Judge Gregory Horn in recent days imposed two sentences, of 17 and six years, to be served at the same time.

According to an affidavit, detectives with the Wayne County Sheriff’s Department joined parole agents in searching Gipson’s home in the 1400 block of South Fourth Street on Aug. 6.

They reported finding more than 100 grams of cocaine, along with paraphernalia including digital scales.

When a safe found in the home was later opened, deputies seized more than 2 additional pounds of cocaine, along with two handguns and $24,050 in cash.

The court document said before providing a key used to open the safe, Gipson said his girlfriend had no connection to its contents.

Gipson is prohibited from possessing firearms because of his criminal record, which included two earlier convictions for dealing in cocaine, in 1998 and 2023.
