The Purdue basketball team withstood the early test from No. 15 Texas Tech, and then stormed to an easy victory after a commanding run to end the first half, leading to an 86-56 win and Baha Mar Championship title.
The Boilermakers will surely remain ranked No. 1 in the USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll after a second top-15 win in the season’s first three weeks. The Red Raiders (4-2) had JT Toppin shut down by the frontcourt of Trey Kaufman-Renn, Oscar Cluff, Daniel Jacobsen and Jack Benter.

Myles Colvin left Purdue seeking a greater role. He’s playing a lot of minutes at Wake Forest, where he still comes off the bench. Entering tonight, he was averaging 11.4 points and 4.2 rebounds across 27 minutes per game.

Will Purdue basketball have same refs tonight?
It appears the Boilermakers will have one official from Thursday night’s widely scrutinized affair against Memphis, which saw three technical fouls. Tony Padilla was not listed as an official for Friday’s consolation game between Wake Forest and Memphis, thus meaning Padilla will likely again work Purdue’s game.
He’ll likely be joined by Bert Smith, who you may remember collapsed during the Final Four in Indianapolis in 2021, and Deldre Carr.
The three officials assigned to the consolation game were Tyler Kumpf, Bret Smith and Christopher Merlo. Bret Smith and Merlo worked Thursday night’s Purdue-Memphis game.
