Primary election results: Hamilton County Statehouse races

Republicans and Democrats are battling for nominations for two open state Senate seats that represent parts of Hamilton County.

State Sen. J.D. Ford, D-Carmel, is running for Congress, leaving the District 29 seat vacant, while state Sen. Kyle Walker, R-Lawrence, opted to not run for reelection, which means the District 31 seat is open as well.  

And incumbents in several Hamilton County Statehouse elections are facing challengers in the primary election.  

This article will be updated with Statehouse results for districts that include at least a portion of Hamilton County, and are holding contested elections, as results come in.   

The results below are from Decision Desk HQ.

Senate District 21 

This district includes the northern portion of Hamilton County, including Westfield, along with Tipton County and portions of Howard County.  

Democrats:  

Republicans:  

Senate District 25 

This district includes Madison County and parts of White River and Jackson Townships in Hamilton County.  

Democrats:  

Republicans:  

Senate District 29 

This district includes parts of Carmel, Zionsville and Pike and Wayne Townships in Marion County. 

Democrats:  

Republicans:  

Senate District 31 

This district includes Fishers and parts of northeast Marion County, including Lawrence.  

Democrats:  

Republicans:  

House District 29 

This district encompasses portions of Hamilton County, including Noblesville.  

Democrats:  

Rep. Alaina Shonkwiler is running unopposed on the Republican ballot.

House District 37 

Where it is: The district encompasses a portion of Hamilton County, including Fishers, and some of the surrounding rural areas.  

Democrats:  

House Speaker Todd Huston is running unopposed on the Republican ballot.
