At the time, the University of Notre Dame and Texas A&M were playing football at nearby Notre Dame Stadium.

About 10 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, South Bend Police officers were trying to help disperse large crowds in Eddy Street Commons when they heard gunfire in the area, the release said.

Multiple officers responded to investigate and check for any possible victims, said police, who added no injuries were reported in the incident.

Police initially detained at least two people but ultimately released them, police said.

The South Bend Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit continues to investigate the incident.

Police ask that anyone with information about the incident report it anonymously through Michiana Crime Stoppers by calling 574-288-STOP or visiting p3tips.com/203.
