“Find a penny, pick it up. All day long, you’ll have good luck!”
My name is Penny and if you want “Lady Luck” on your side for a good long time, then come pick me up from Second Chance Small Dog Resuce. As a retired breeder, I have lived in one place and so I am inexperienced in looking for a new home. There is a little confusion as to my family tree, my breeder claimed I was a toy poodle, but as my shaved hair has begun regrowing, my foster mom and others believe I am probably a 5 to 7 year old Maltese or Maltese mix. But either way, I am blessed with a beautiful, curly, white coat. Don’t you agree?
Because I have been a mother, I am very gentle with other dogs and humans. Although, until I get to know you I will probably be shy around you. Currently, I’m being fostered with some other furry pals and even an outdoor cat and I’m excited to tell you that I got brave enough to jump up and join my friends on the couch for a bit of snuggle time.
I really don’t like being alone and can have some separation anxiety. So, it has been recommended that another canine friend(s) in the home would be beneficial to me and because you wouldn’t want to lose your lucky Penny, a fenced yard is required.
I’m still working on my housetraining skills and getting used to those wonderful floor covers they call “puppy pads.” I usually keep my crate clean especially when that puppy pad is kept near my crate. If you have patience with me and take the time to train me, I know I can be going potty outside in no time.
I have been spayed, am up to date on my vaccinations and I am heartworm negative. Second Chance is offering me through a program called Foster-to-Adopt, an arrangement that gives the prospective adopter an opportunity to get to know me and work with me for a number of weeks without making a long-term commitment. I don’t foresee any problems; you’ll love me once you get to know me.
I am currently living in Grand Rapids, Michigan, so a prospective Foster-to-Adopt family should be within 75 miles or so of Grand Rapids. My foster mom, Michelle, is happy to answer any questions so give her a call at 616-949-7813 or email her at m.vangeest.@att.net. Let’s get this lucky penny (me) deposited into your family home and begin accruing love.
