An off-duty Lawrence Police Department officer was one of two people injured in a shooting on Indianapolis’s east side the night of July 31.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department records show officers responded to reports of gunshots shortly after 10 p.m. in the 1900 block of Kildare Avenue and found that a police officer had been shot. IMPD later said a second person was also wounded in the shooting.
According to reports, the officer works for the Lawrence Police Department and was off duty at the time of the shooting. LPD is conducting an administrative investigation, LPD Deputy Chief Travis Cline told WTHR.
IMPD is investigating the shooting.
Both people who were shot were hospitalized. The LPD officer was in stable condition, while the other person was in critical condition, according to WTHR.
IMPD and LPD did not immediately respond to IndyStar inquiries on Aug. 1.
