Notre Dame misses out on top corner target who commits to Michigan

The Notre Dame Fighting Irish had their sites set on 2027 Illinois cornerback Tavares Harrington, but the defensive back appears to be following his teammate Quentin Burrell.

He had narrowed the choice down to the Michigan, the Fighting Irish and the Alabama Crimson Tide, and decided on Friday night that Ann Arbor is where he’ll play at collegiately.

It’s an unfortunate miss for an Irish team that has used strong secondary play to help build a strong, stout defense. Harrington is ranked as the No. 124 overall prospect in the 247Sports Composite, so this is clearly a prospect that Notre Dame wanted. A young defensive back prospect like Harrington could eventually step into the shoes of someone like Leonard Moore.

While Harrington won’t be part of the class, the Irish still have Xavier Hasan and Ace Alston committed. The search for a third corner continues for Notre Dame.
