Notre Dame fell to No. 2 LSU, 9-4, in the “Live Like Lou Jax Classic” in Jacksonville, Fla., on Saturday.
The Fighting Irish fell behind 7-0 as the Tigers got two runs in the second, three runs in the third, and two in the fourth. Notre Dame fought back with a run in the fifth and a two-run home run from Jayce Less in the sixth.

LSU would add some insurance runs, thanks in part to a passed ball with the bases loaded. Notre Dame’s Parker Brzustewicz walked with the bases loaded in the top of the seventh to make it 9-4, but the rally fizzled.
Offensive highlights for the Irish included Mark Quatrani and Noah Coy each going 2-for-4 and scoring a run, while Lee had the homer and Drew Berkland had a hit and an RBI. Notre Dame would finish with 9 hits.
Caden Crowell was the starting pitcher for Notre Dame, and he went 2.1 innings, striking out four and being tagged with the loss.
With the win, LSU moves to 7-0.
Notre Dame is 2-3 and will face Indiana on day three of the tournament on Sunday. First pitch from VyStar Ballpark is set for 11 a.m. ET.
