Multiple injured after police chase ends in four-car crash in Greenwood

Six people are injured after an Indianapolis woman caused a four-car crash in Greenwood on May 9 while trying to evade law enforcement on Interstate 65, according to Indiana State Police.

The pursuit began in the morning when an ISP officer from the Versailles district tried to pull over a 25-year-old woman on I-65 northbound for speeding and having a false license plate. The woman refused to pull over and fled into Johnson County, police said, where she struck a car when trying to use the shoulder to pass, causing a four-car crash.

One woman involved in the crash was transported to the hospital in critical condition after multiple tourniquets were applied. She was later deemed “critical but stable,” according to an ISP news release sent the evening of May 9.

Five others with non-life threatening injuries were also taken to the hospital. The woman who fled from the police was taken into custody and later transported to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Police are actively investigating the crash.
