Momentum IU basketball built stripped by sloppy loss to No. 6 Louisville

INDIANAPOLIS — Darian DeVries’ Indiana got another unpleasant dose of reality Saturday, in an 87-78 loss to Louisville.

What Indiana basketball’s loss to Louisville means

Now, the positive momentum of November is gone. Consecutive ugly losses will pivot Indiana’s fanbase further toward its College Football Playoff-bound football program, and restore the same suspicious apathy DeVries spent so much of the offseason fighting against.

The season is hardly lost. But Indiana clearly has a longer road to the kind of competitiveness DeVries expects and promised than what we initially believed.
