Following Friday’s practice, Indianapolis Colts’ head coach Shane Steichen has ruled out cornerback Kenny Moore for Sunday’s Week 4 game vs. the LA Rams.
Moore left the Colts’ Week 3 matchup with Tennessee early with what was initially called a calf injury.
However, upon further review, the Colts determined that it was more of an Achilles injury that Moore is working through.
He did not practice at all this week. On Monday, Ian Rapoport would report that Moore’s injury isn’t expected to be long-term but that he could miss a couple of weeks.
Steichen has since said that he doesn’t believe an injured reserve stint is necessary for Moore.
Who will start in place of Kenny Moore for the Colts?
When it comes to who takes over those nickel duties while Moore is sidelined, the Colts have two primary options.
The first is Mekhi Blackmon, who Indianapolis acquired via trade from Minnesota prior to the season starting. Blackmon has played both inside and out already this season for the Colts.
The option is the recently signed Mike Hilton, who is currently on the Colts’ practice squad. Having played under Lou Anarumo for several seasons in Cincinnati, Hilton is very familiar with this defensive system, which could help him hit the ground running.
Steichen and Anarumo were non-committal early in the week regarding what Hilton’s role might be, but Hilton expects to see playing time right away.
