It was one run but Jeremiyah Love had people seeing a Heisman moment in the Notre Dame football 37-15 win at Pittsburgh on Saturday.
His spin move was “the best spin move since Braxton Miller” and led to an electric touchdown that ended up being the decisive score. Running backs have not had much luck in the era of spread offenses at winning the Heisman Trophy. But Love has as good a case as any to be the first running back since Alabama’s Derrick Henry in 2015.
Love had a the 56-yard score with that spin move. That loud play was enough for the Fighting Irish. Love finished his day with 147 yards on 23 carries (6.4 per, though 4.1 taking away the explosive).

Love entered the game with 988 yards rushing on 154 carries and 13 touchdowns. He had 24 catches for 254 yards receiving and three TDs.
After the win over Pitt, here are Love’s stats: 177 carries, 1,135 yards, 14 touchdowns, 26 catches, 274 yards, three receiving touchdowns.
