IndyStar expands opinion section in the Sunday newspaper

You may have noticed a couple changes in last Sunday’s newspaper.

Most notably, we expanded our Viewpoints section to provide you with even more columns and letters.

It wasn’t that long ago that the section contained only two pages of content. Now, it has four.

The larger section in the Sunday paper is a culmination of several months of work to expand the amount of local opinion content for our community. Opinion Editor James Briggs has been spearheading that effort since returning to IndyStar last year.

You can find columns from Briggs and fellow IndyStar staff columnists Jacob Stewart and Sadia Khatri.

There are also columns from contributors, such as the economist Michael Hicks and former director of the Indiana Division of Mental Health and Addiction Jay Chaudhary.

And there are submissions from community members, as well as from Democratic state Rep. Mitch Gore and former Republican U.S. Rep. Greg Pence.

All told, this expanded section will enable us to more easily provide you with a diverse set of voices on a greater variety of issues.

You will read some views that you probably will agree with and some that you probably won’t — but all of them, we hope, will leave with you something new to consider.

Then, when you’re done reading the paper, we hope you’ll think about sharing your view, too.

To submit a letter to the editor, read the instructions at the bottom of the Viewpoints section or visit our online form.

In the meantime, we will continue to find new ways to bring you more local news and local opinion content in the paper.
