The Indianapolis Colts have signed former Miami Dolphins running back Nate Noel, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Stephen Holder.
Schefter and Holder would also report that running back Salvon Ahmed suffered a season-ending ankle injury, following a hip drop tackle made by Colts’ safety Trey Washington earlier in the week at practice.
Noel went undrafted this past April out of Missouri and signed with Miami in early May. When the Dolphins signed Mike Hilton in late July, the corresponding roster move to make room was releasing Noel.
Noel is listed at 5-10 and weighs 190 pounds. He played four seasons at Appalachian State before transferring to Missouri for the 2024 season.
With the Tigers, Noel averaged 5.1 yards per rush, totaling 814 yards with three touchdowns. He was a big-play threat with Appalachian State as well, averaging 5.5 yards per carry over his career, according to PFF.
As a pass-catcher, Noel finished with 68 targets combined over his final three seasons.
Noel joins a Colts’ backfield with Jonathan Taylor, Tyler Goodson, DJ Giddens, Khalil Herbert, and Ulyesses Bentley.
