It took a while for Indiana football to get going in its season opener, but that’s not new under Curt Cignetti and the result was the same as last year: a win.
Aside from two plays defensively and several offensive miscues, though, the Hoosiers were dominant in a 27-14 victory over Old Dominion on Saturday at Memorial Stadium. Quarterback Fernando Mendoza showed glimpses of how good he can be, and why NFL scouts love his potential, but also didn’t capitalize as a polished QB.
IU also unveiled its new mascot, Hoosier the Bison, in dramatic fashion pregame. Hoosier had plenty to cheer about.
