WEST LAFAYETTE — Purdue women’s basketball added an in-state depth piece with the addition of 2023 Indiana All-Star and Indiana State transfer Saige Stahl.
Stahl averaged 26.0 points, 9.9 rebounds, 3.2 steals, 1.2 assists and 1.0 blocks per game for Columbus East before playing two seasons at Indiana State.
The numbers jumped from Stahl, who averaged 7.4 points per game and 7.2 rebounds per game in nine starts for Indiana State in 2024-25 after she averaged 1.7 points and 2.2 rebounds per game in 2023-24.
Stahl joins a revamped program loaded with players from the transfer portal.
She becomes the sixth transfer portal addition, which includes former Arkansas guard Kiki Smith, UNC Greensboro guard Nya Smith, Northern Arizona guard Taylor Feldman and UNC Wilmington guard Taylor Henderson and most recently, former St. John’s guard Tara Daye, who announced her commitment to Purdue on May 17.
Freshmen coming to Purdue include 4-star center Avery Gordon from Brownsburg and 4-star guard Keona Douwstra from the Netherlands.
Rejoining Purdue with her sister McKenna Layden is Madison Layden-Zay for her graduate year. Layden-Zay is 38 3-pointers from surpassing Karissa McLaughlin as the Boilermakers’ career leader.
Purdue also sees the return of sophomore forwards Lana McCarthy and Kendall Puryear.
