Eastern Indiana took much of the brunt from Wednesday’s severe weather, in which heavy rain continued to fall on communities already dealing with flooding.
New Castle in Henry County saw another 4.2 inches of precipitation, according to the National Weather Service, in addition to the more than 7 inches of rain that fell from Tuesday to Wednesday morning.
Heavy flooding in the area has swept away roads, damaged homes and cars and left some Hoosiers seeking to bed down in emergency shelters.
The National Weather Service of Indianapolis measured precipitation that occurred between 8 a.m. Aug. 11 and 8 a.m. Aug. 13.
