Nationally, home sales fell to a new low in March as the housing market stayed stuck in neutral.
Sales of previously owned homes ran at a 3.98 million pace in March across the U.S., the National Association of Realtors said in a recent report. That means if sales continued at this rate for the full year, 3.98 million homes would be sold – the lowest since 1995, according to USA TODAY analysis.
Indiana’s housing market, however, saw a surge in sales and listing activity from February to March, according to the Indiana Association of Realtors. Closed home sales jumped 27% month-over-month, while new pending sales grew 30% from February. New listings were up 41% from February and 5% year-over-year, the association said.
With more competition from homebuyers, the state’s median sale price rose 4% month-over-month to $270,000, association data showed.
