High winds, severe storms and (yes) snow are in Indiana's forecast

Central Indiana could see drastic weather changes over the next few days, according to Friday’s forecast from the National Weather Service.

High winds, rain and thunderstorms are possible Sunday, March 15 and (yes), possibly snow on Monday, March 16.

Hoosiers will want to keep tabs on the weather over the next few days to monitor any severe weather threats.

Wind advisory in effect for Central Indiana on March 13, 2026

A wind advisory has been issued by NWS Indianapolis that will remain in effect until 8 p.m. Friday, March 13. According to the advisory, Hoosiers can expect 20 to 30 mph winds with gusts up to 50 mph.

What Central Indiana counties are under a wind advisory?

The following Indiana counties are included in the wind advisory that expires at 8 p.m. on Friday, March 13: Bartholomew, Boone, Brown, Clay, Daviess, Decatur, Fountain, Greene, Hendricks, Jackson, Jennings, Johnson, Knox, Lawrence, Marion, Martin, Monroe, Montgomery, Morgan, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Shelby, Sullivan, Tippecanoe, Vermillion, Vigo and Warren.

Severe storms possible March 15, as well as snow on March 16

NWS predicts a high of 56 Friday, but we could see a drastic shift in temperature over the weekend. The predicted high is 71 on Sunday, March 15 and then 38 on Monday, March 16.

Severe storms also are possible Sunday night, meteorologists said, with the main threat predicted to be damaging winds, isolated tornadoes, lightning and localized flooding.

Once the storms move through, Central Indiana might see snow showers to start out next week.

Friday, March 13: Scattered sprinkles between 8 a.m. and 9 a.m. Cloudy through mid morning, then becoming mostly sunny, with a high near 56. Windy, with a south southwest wind 21 to 30 mph, with gusts as high as 50 mph.

Friday night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 34. West wind 5 to 11 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph.

Saturday, March 14: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 52. East southeast wind 3 to 7 mph.

Saturday night: Cloudy, with a low around 45. East wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 18 mph.

Sunday, March 15: A 30% chance of showers after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 71. Breezy, with a south wind 10 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 38 mph.

Sunday night: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 8pm. Low around 31. South wind around 17 mph, with gusts as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Monday, March 16: Snow showers likely, possibly mixed with rain before 2 p.m., then a chance of snow showers. Cloudy, with a high near 38. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 37 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.

Monday night: A 30% chance of snow showers before 8 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 16. West northwest wind 14 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph.

Tuesday, March 17 – St. Patrick’s Day: Mostly sunny, with a high near 30. West northwest wind around 13 mph, with gusts as high as 22 mph.

Tuesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 21. West wind 5 to 7 mph becoming south after midnight.

Wednesday, March 18: A 20% chance of snow. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 46.

Wednesday night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Thursday, March 19: Partly sunny, with a high near 60.
