The funeral and visitation details for a Beech Grove Police officer who died in the line of duty have been released.
Officer Brian Elliott was fatally shot Feb. 16 after responding to a domestic disturbance call at an apartment complex. Since then, not only law enforcement agencies, but state and city leaders and the Beech Grove community have come together to memorialize Elliott. To support Elliott’s family and his wife, Erin, the Central Indiana Police Foundation created a memorial fund to collect donations.
A visitation was held Sunday, Feb. 22, at Beech Grove High School.
The funeral for Elliott will begin at 11 a.m. on Monday, Feb. 23. It’s being held at Beech Grove High School, where he graduated from in 2011.
The Indiana Department of Education granted Beech Grove City Schools an emergency cancellation on Feb. 23, the district said in a Facebook post.
After the visitation, there will be the funeral procession, where Elliott will be laid to rest in Crown Hill Cemetery.
The procession route will be from Beech Grove High School:
