EA Sports teases college basketball game release, to the approval of Purdue Athletics

If you’ve ever dreamed of tossing a lob to Zach Edey or seeing the court through the eyes of Braden Smith, you’re in luck.

Electronic Arts, the maker of popular sports game franchises such as “Madden,” “FIFA” and “College Football,” which released last summer, hinted Monday that it plans to create a college basketball equivalent. The company posted, “Bring the Madness. Let’s run it back” on X through its sports division account, EA Sports.

Purdue Athletics weighed in on the announcement, too.

As for when fans may be able to assume control of men’s coach Matt Painter or women’s coach Katie Gearlds’ teams, nothing concrete has been announced.

Matt Brown of Extra Points, a college sports blog that specializes in reporting off-the-field news affecting college sports, reported Monday that he obtained a memo showing the game’s first version will be released in 2028. EA has reportedly not confirmed that date.

So those wanting to live through their favorite Boilermaker stars may want to stick to NBA 2K until then.
