INDIANAPOLIS — Former Indiana football cornerback D’Angelo Ponds had a 43.5-inch vertical jump at the NFL combine on Friday, Feb. 27.
It was tied for best result through the first two days of testing at the event and tied for the best vertical jump at the combine in the last three years. It ranked fourth all-time among all cornerbacks at the combine and among the top 10 highest vertical jumps all-time.
Ponds hopes his athleticism and impressive resume will help quiet any concerns scouts have about his size. He was measured at 5-foot-8 1/2 and 182-pounds with 9 5/8 hands and 29 3/8 arms before hitting the field at Lucas Oil Stadium.
He did position drills as well, but won’t do the rest of testing events until IU’s pro day in April. The majority of draft hopefuls at the combine started training for the combine in early January when Indiana’s postseason run was just getting started.
Ponds wanted additional time to prep for events like the 40-yard dash.
