As far as we know, Anthony Richardson’s trade request remains on the table, but for now, he remains with the Indianapolis Colts.
“I haven’t really even talked to my agent about (the trade request) recently,” Richardson said, via The Athletic’s James Boyd. “I haven’t talked to (Chris) Ballard … I’m not necessarily sure what’s going on. But I’m just here right now, trying to make sure I can stamp my foot on this team. …”
Before training camp began, GM Chris Ballard said that the intention at that time was to keep Richardson — the team isn’t going to just give him away.
That said, Ballard also acknowledged that trading Richardson could be a possibility — or that was the case two weeks ago.
A potentially important date that could help facilitate a trade has already passed.
Richardson is competing with Riley Leonard for the backup quarterback role. The big thing Shane Steichen and Jim Bob Cooter want to see from him is consistency.
“Sometimes I don’t throw the best ball, but I feel like my decision-making is pretty good so far in camp,” Richardson said, via Boyd.
He continued, “It’s not my best camp. … It’s not my worst camp. I’m just trying to keep progressing.”
