The Fishers Police Department is investigating a bar shooting that left a 30-year-old man dead and another man in custody.
At about 2:45 a.m. Dec. 1, Fishers police received a call of a shooting inside Britton Tavern at 14005 Mundy Drive, according to Sgt. Angela Ellison, a public information officer with the Fishers Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found a 30-year-old man who had been shot inside the bar. He was later pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel from a single gunshot, according to Ellison.
Fishers Police also took a 31-year-old man from Indianapolis into custody, Ellison said. The man has been preliminarily charged with murder. IndyStar is not naming the man because the Hamilton County Prosecutor’s Office had not formally charged him at the time of publication.
It’s unclear what led to the shooting, but police believe this was an isolated event.
The Hamilton County Coroner will release the name of the man shot.
Ellison noted that shootings in this area are “very rare” and highlighted that the bar has been open for “many years” without issues.
“This is very tragic. A man lost his life,” Ellison said.
Fishers Police are still investigating the shooting and said more information would be released.
