One person died in a plane crash in Pike County while two other passengers were taken to area hospitals, according to a news release from the Pike County Sheriff David Greenwood.
The crash happened in a field north of Illinois 72 that is west of Exit 35 on Nov. 23.

The sheriff’s department was notified about a possible plane crash around 9:40 p.m.
When a deputy arrived, they found a passenger of the airplane on the interstate. After an ambulance got there, the deputy started looking for the plane and found it a short time later.
The name of the person who died was not released as of early Nov. 24 afternoon.
Illinois State Police and the Federal Aviation Administration are investigating the cause of the crash.
Assisting at the scene was the Griggsville Fire Department, Pittsfield Fire Department, Baylis Fire Department, North Pike Fire Department, The Pike County Ambulance Service, The Illinois State Police, Adams County Emergency Management Agency, Brown County EMA, the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board.
