NFL world reacts to Bears taking over as NFC's No. 1 seed

It’s been a wild weekend for the Chicago Bears. Not only did they take down the reigning Super Bowl champion Philadelphia Eagles on Black Friday, but, thanks to the Carolina Panthers, the Bears are now the No. 1 seed in the NFC.

With the Los Angeles Rams losing to the Panthers, they fall to 9-3, which is tied with Chicago (who owns the tiebreaker). It’s difficult to even fathom the idea of the Bears sitting atop the NFC for the first time since 2006, especially given last year’s 5-12 disaster and an 0-2 start to this season.

But head coach Ben Johnson has his team rolling. Chicago has won five straight games, including nine of their last 10. Up next is a massive NFC North showdown against the Green Bay Packers, which will be for first place in the NFC North and potentially the No. 1 seed in the NFC. It’s also the first of two games between the Bears and Packers in the next three weeks.

As you can imagine, there’s been plenty of reaction to news of the Bears sitting atop the NFC — ranging from excitement, shock, elation and disbelief after the way last season went. But Chicago now controls their playoff destiny with just five games remaining. And that, my friends, is something none of us imagined at this time last year.
