New voter registration cards have been sent. Here's what to do if you didn't get one

New voter registration cards have been sent out, according to Livingston County Clerk Kristy Masching. Many have already received the yellow postcards identifying registered voters.

Required by law, the county clerk’s office is also in the process of purging voters from the rolls. Masching said in a news release that a purge is performed to keep registered voter records current. This includes eliminating voters who have passed away or have moved out of the county.

Voters should check their new voter cards and become familiar with their districts and polling locations because changes have been made. They also should sign their new cards and throw away the old ones.

Masching is also asking for voters’ assistance in identifying information that needs to be updated. Should a household receive a voter identification card for a family member or for an individual that once resided at that address, but no longer does, the card should be marked with “NOT AT THIS ADDRESS.”

If the receiver of the card knows the address where the individual has moved to, that information should be placed on the card too.

The card should then be returned to the county clerk’s office. No additional postage is required. Masching said that it is important that these cards be returned to the clerk’s office.

Registered voters who have not received a voter’s card by Sept. 10 should notify the county clerk’s office at 815-844-2006.

The next election will be the General Primary on March 17, 2026.

If an individual is not registered to vote, registration may be completed in the county clerk’s office during the hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
