How Peoria-area swimmers and divers fared in the 2025 IHSA state finals prelims

WESTMONT — Two Peoria-area swimmers and three divers advanced to the final day of the Illinois High School Association swimming and diving state meet on Friday at FMC Natatorium.

Peoria Notre Dame freshman Kamryn Gardiner will swim in two events as the swimming and diving finals begin at 11 a.m. Saturday. She has the second-best prelim time in the 100-yard butterfly, clocking in at 54.51 seconds after entering the event with the top time.

Her second event — the 200-yard IM — was a seventh-place finish in 2:03.39. LaSalle-Peru senior Samantha Nauman came in tied for 14th in the 200-yard IM (2:05.05).

Annie Yingling (Dunlap, 330.30), Ava Ray (Washington, 316.75) and Katie Unger (Dunlap, 314.55) will dive in the finals after advancing through both the quarterfinals and semifinals.
